For a Hawaiian, I always felt sorry for the under dog, but after talking to Cora for the first time. I realized how much in her own way she was just like me. No one understood how she really felt. I and my family treated her as an equal and in school. I made sure no one made fun of her if I was around. I really did like her. My friends would laugh at her when she would come over to talk to me. I would alway tell the to shut up. They would say did you understand what she said. I would always say, yes, she spoke english (very well too, not like pidgeon). I have always respected her through out the years. After I left for the mainland and europe, I lost contact with everyone from my old days. It's sad to hear how young she was. She is safe in God's hands now. Thank you Cora for helping me grow and understand needs of the lonely and forgotten people. I will never forget what you told me in 7-grade PE " just because you are big and you can beat me up, don't mean that you can't be my friend", which she was shaking her fist at me. Rest in Peace!
