David Walter Mendonca

David Walter Mendonca, 95 of Kaneohe, passed away on November 3, 2019. He was born in Hilo, Hawaii on February 23, 1924 to John and Virginia Mendonca. After graduating from Hilo High, he started his career at the Tribune Herald from 1941-1944 before serving his country in the United States Army from 1944-1946 as a paratrooper. He then moved his family to Oahu where he worked for the Star Bulletin from 1947 until his retirement in 1991. He was an avid golfer spending many of his days over the last 50 years at the Pali Golf Course. He is survived by wife of 68-years, Jane Mendonca, children, Donna (Frank) Brewer, Gary Mendonca, and Pamela (Juan) Sanchez, sisters, Margaret (Edmund) Cambra, Marie Mendonca, Bernice Mendonca, grand-children, Todd (Kendra) Mendonca, Gary Mendonca Jr., Angela (Don) Mendonca, John Mendonca, Jonathan (Diamond) Sanchez, Jock (Lacey) Mendonca, Jennifer Sanchez, great-grandchildren, Hunter, Harley, Gary III., Camile, and Rosie, nephews and friends. He is predeceased by sister Eleanor Mendonca. Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 at the Valley of the Temples Mortuary in Kaneohe at 9:00 a.m. with visitation/lunch to follow from 10:00-11:30 a.m.
