EUGENIA C. WONG, 93 of Honolulu, passed away very peacefully with family by her side on June 9, 2019 at the Maunalani Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she made many friends during her stay there. Born on August 23, 1925 in Honolulu, Hawaii., she was the youngest child of Annie Kamalani Zane and Sing Tai Cheong Yee. She was proud of her Hawaiian and Chinese heritage. She briefly worked at the Honolulu Rapid Transit before her marriage to husband. Donald M. Wong of 60 years and they raised three sons. Many knew her husband, Donald, who was the Chief Financial Officer for Chinn Ho and Capital Investment Co. People knew her as “Jean”, the woman behind the Man who crunched the numbers for some of Hawaii’s biggest land and business deals of the time – Star Bulletin, Ilikai Hotel, and Makaha Resort Development. Although she did not travel, her joy was to shop, dine and hangout at Kahala Mall where she made so many friends at Long’s, Macys and throughout the Mall. She was known for her unbounded generosity, culinary skills and hospitality. Her passing is like an end of another bygone era. Her other siblings were Herman, James, Cecilia, Bernice, Ginger, Agnes, Margaret, and Eleanor. She has one other surviving sister – Elizabeth Zierhut of Wisconsin. She is pre-deceased in death by her Husband, Donald M. Wong and Son John C. Wong (Donna) She is survived by Sons, Steven D. Wong (Penny), Thomas J. Wong (Sandie), grandchildren: Julia (Wong), Christopher (Wong), Angela (Wong), Andrew (Wong), Nikita (Wong), Dr. Natasha Fortune-Checota, Xavier (Wong), one great grandchild - Star, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Service will be held at Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel on Friday, July 5, 2019. Visitation: 11:30 am Service: 12:00 pm Burial: 2:00 pm at Diamond Head Memorial Park Cemetery.
