Father Robert Siu 1924-2014 One of Hawaii's first diocesan priests spent final years in Wyoming Father Robert Kwong Chee Siu, one of the first local-born diocesan priests, died September 11, 2014 in Lander, Wyoming, where he was a retired parish priest in residence. He had celebrated his 60th anniversary of ordination in June. He was 90 when he died. Father Siu was as a parish priest and seminary teacher in Hawaii for 18 years before leaving the islands for studies on the mainland. He remained on the Mainland, serving in parishes and as a hospital chaplain in a number of western states. Father Siu was born in Honolulu, one of seven children of Chin Tai Siu and Sin Cook Lee. He graduated from St. Louis College (now St. Louis School) in 1942. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving from 1944 to 1946. He wanted to be a priest ever since his baptism at age 14. He entered the St. Mary Seminary in 1948 when he was discharged. Father Siu is suvived by his brothers, Arthur K.B. Siu and James K.M. Siu and nieces and nephews. Visitation 5:00p.m. Thursday,(9-25) at Our lady of Peace Cathedral with mass at 6:00pm Visitation again on Friday (9-26)at 11:00 am at Our lady of Peace Cathedral with mass at 12noon Burial will be held at 3:00pm Saturday (9-27) at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery.
