William Louis "Hax" HaxtonOctober 9, 2012William Louis "Hax" Haxton, 83, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully at his home October 9th. He was born in Honlolulu, graduated from Punahou School, then attended and graduated from Menio College. After spending one summer on a ranch in Arizona as a "cowboy", he returned to Hawaii and graduated from the University of Hawaii. While at U of H, he began courting his future wife, Beryl Martin Haxton. The two married December 8,1951, and spent 60 + wonderful years together. He served four years in the Naval Reserve. He worked at the Honolulu Gas Company for nearly 8 years. While there, he and a co-worker invented the "tiki torch". He started and ran his own business, Haxco Inc. and was a real estate broker for Diamond Head Reality. He was a long time member of the Outrigger Canoe Club where he enjoyed surfing and steering canoes. He was also an avid golfer, regularly golfing with his group once a week. Hax continued his love of rifelry from his days on the rifle team a Punahou and enjoyed shooting at the Koko Head Rifle Range. In his earlier years, he frequently rode motercycles with his son and friends. Hax was a true "Mr. Fix-It". He could build and fix anything. He shared his humor and wit with all. He was a real jokester who loved to make jokes and see people laugh. He is survived by his wife, Beryl, son Michael, daughter Sheri and three grandchildren.Services will be held Friday October 19th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Outrigger Canoe Club.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
