Fe Juanita Esmeralda Astilla Camacho, 82, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2021, surrounded by family in Honolulu, HI. Mrs. Camacho was born June 24, 1938, in Cebu, Philippines, to Agripino and Isidra Astilla. The eldest of seven children, she moved with family in 1951 to Gretna, Louisiana. Over the next seventy years, she grew into her role as matriarch of a large, loving family of siblings, children, grandchildren, and extended family. She was a dedicated member of the Filipino-American community in Louisiana, serving as a founding member and second president of the Philippine American Women’s Association of Louisiana, and active participant in the Philippine American Sports Association of New Orleans and the Philippine American United Council of Louisiana. She enjoyed Cajun and Filipino cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She was an eternal optimist, appreciating the beauty in nature, experiences, and personal relationships. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Eduardo Camacho; children, Nina Camacho, Eduardo (Jeannie) Camacho, and Daniel (Linda) Camacho; grandchildren, David Castillo, Danielle Castillo, Dane Castillo, Maya Camacho, Eric Camacho, Julian Camacho, and Jonathan Camacho; siblings, Sonia Tablan, Manuel Astilla, and Marling Valen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Agripino and Isidra Astilla; brothers, Fernando Astilla, Carmelo Astilla, and Ernesto Astilla.
