Brett Fujimoto said his memory is bad so he doesn't have many concrete memories of his grandfather. He does remember Papa Sho driving down the very steep street past the gym very near to Diamond Head Mortuary. Papa drove so they would think they were going to fly off the top of the hill by KCC and he remembers a lot of screaming. Maybe they were going to watch Brett play basketball like in this photo.
My favorite memory of Papa is every time he was down to take a silly selfie! He was always down to do anything fun and never took himself too seriously, and that’s how I’ll always remember him. 💕
I am the son my dad never had, and proud of it… miss you dad. ❤️
My dad would pick us up from school in his Volkswagen bug and swerve around the speed bumps. We would be rolling around in the car in the days before mandatory seatbelts. My teacher said "tell you parents your brother needs to drive more safely." I told her he was my dad.
Papa always loved physical games. His favorite was the “Trash Can” game where we’d roll up a piece of trash into a ball, about the size of a baseball or smaller, and we’d take turns throwing it into the trash can! Every time one of us got it in we would then push the trash can farther and farther to make it harder. This is my favorite memory/memories because he would get SO excited, and laugh the loudest when we’d play this. Every time I throw something away from a far distance I know he’s probably happy and giving me the thumbs up. I think we all have his competitive spirit.
