During the 1970s both my wife (Bea) and I were in the U.S. Air Force stationed in West Germany. While there, I met Ray and we soon became friends. When I told him I was from Waimanalo, to my surprise he mentioned that he was married to Annette Fuller. When Bea was expecting our first child (Leilani) in 1979, as a young military couple, working rotating shifts, we needed to find a reliable babysitter. Ray mentioned his wife would be willing to babysit and Annette came to our rescue. She treated our daughter as if she were her own. Annette took Leilani everywhere with her. In fact, when Leilani was with us, we often received strange looks because people were used to seeing Leilani with Annette. Sometimes when I picked up Leilani after a long day, Annette would send me home with some local treats like fried rice, or teriyaki beef or chicken. It's always nice to have Ohana, especially when you're 8,000 miles from home. Annette was a kind, caring, and loving person. She was the warmest person you would ever meet. We are saddened to hear of her passing but will always be grateful for the wonderful time we spent with Annette. We miss her very much. Love, Brian & Bea Liu
