Arnold Vincent Latti's Obituary
On January 21, 2022, Arnold Latti died in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was 71 years old.
Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, Arnold served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972. Following his honorary discharge from the military, he experienced life in California and Hawaii and visited Australia, before finally settling in Hawaii. Arnold earned a BA in Education in 1984 and a professional diploma in elementary education in 1986 before landing a job with the Hawaii State Department of Education as a special ed teacher on Lanai. He transferred to Oahu in 1988, and went on to have a long and dedicated teaching career, including 20 years at Waikiki School where he was a strong proponent of The Habits of Mind. He also obtained a Master’s degree in Educational Foundations in 2001.
Arnold had many interests, and was even licensed in Hawaii to perform weddings. He was also conversational in American Sign Language. He embraced Eastern philosophy and Hawaiian culture. But he was best known for expressing his love of life and nature by writing poetry and making friends everywhere he went.
A celebration of life will be planned later this year by his close friends. A hui hou, Mr. Latti! Until we meet again.
