BENJAMIN NALAIELUA KAHALEPUNA “PUNA” LEE
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. Puna cherished his home in Honolulu and it was here that he took his final breaths on April 12, 2022, surrounded by family, at the age of 94 years. He was born February 21,1928 in Honolulu to Cecilia Keonaona Kahalepuna and Charles Mamaolena Lee. Both parents predeceased him; his mother at the tender young age of 29 years, and his father at the mature age of 89 years. Puna was a loving, caring, and devoted husband to his wife of 72 years, Emmaline “Lei” Lee; daughters, Puna Lee Nouchi (Neal), Emmaline K. Lee-Nguyen, Charlette Lee (Alan); and son, Charles N. K. Lee (Debby). He leaves behind his grandchildren Lee Nouchi (Aimee), Traci Lynn Nouchi, Keoni Nguyen (Jenny), Tom Nguyen (Jeannie), Cameron and Kealani Lee; great grandchildren, Leilani and Kainoa Nouchi, and Everlee Nguyen. His siblings include Cecilia K. Lindo and Mae Blossom “Noe” Victor; sister-in-law, Shirley K. Yong; brother-in-law, Henry K. C. Ching and his daughter, Leah. Puna will also be missed by many cousins, nephews, nieces and their extended families, as well as friends he met throughout his life. Others that predeceased Puna include his sister, Mary Grace “Lani” Lee; sister-in-law, Melvia “Malia” K. Ching; brothers-in-laws, Howard P. Lindo and Bernard A. Victor; and grandson, Scott Nouchi. Puna had requested no service, however scattering of ashes will be scheduled at a later date.
