With a career devoted to education and a deep connection to the Honolulu community, Betsy will be remembered for her dedication to students, families, and colleagues throughout her many years at Punahou School.

Betsy Hata, 82, of Honolulu, passed away on July 14, 2026, in Honolulu.
Born on April 22, 1944, in Honolulu, Betsy was the daughter of the late Noboru and Ayako Tomishima. A beloved educator, she dedicated much of her life to serving the students and families of Punahou School, where she was respected for her work as an educator and later as Director of Admissions. Through her kindness, leadership, and commitment to excellence, she touched the lives of countless members of the school community.
Betsy is survived by her loving husband, Leslie Hata; her son, Reyn (Carrie) Hata; and her two cherished grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Thurston Chapel, Punahou School.
Betsy will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
