We lived across from the Geshell's for 8 years in Hawaii Kai. As soon as my son Evan who was 18 months and I moved into the neighbor hood the family became great neighbors and good friends. Carmen was one of the most remarkable people we have met. She was beautiful inside and out. Her positivity and happy spirit was so contagious. You could have a bad day and see Carmen and all would be forgotten. Carmen's talent for writing and painting was great, my son still has her books, one which she signed for him is especially treasured. Carmen's life was full of challenges and she rose to them all with great spirit. No one who ever met her will forget her.
After we moved to another island we stayed in touch and Evan sent her some pottery he had made during his Sr year at school. It was a class he was required to take and he had not been too enthusiastic. As it turned out he loved it and when he had some decent pieces his first thought was to send one to Carmen. Of course her response was so Carmen, all appreciation, love and kindness and of course lots of encouragement. That was Carmen!
We still remember Carmen and her Mom Carol riding around in their green VW bug , always happy, allays a smile. Carmen's life was too short but she packed so much into the years she had. Evan and I send our deepest condolences to Steve , family and friends.
Love
