Caroline Chang's Obituary
Caroline Chang passed away on May 2, 2024, at the age of 43 surrounded by her loving family. Caroline was born in Urbana, Illinois and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. She did her undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she met her husband, Jeffrey Loh. Together, they attended Cornell University for medical school. Caroline moved to Hawaii with Jeff in 2014 and joined Kaiser’s Hawaii Permanente Medical Group where she was a dedicated pediatrician and pediatric rheumatologist. She also served in leadership roles while at Kaiser, including chief of pediatrics. She loved her career and explained “Children, by nature, are fun and unpredictable—and that’s why I love working with them.” Caroline also was a devoted mother and found great joy in raising her children Ryan, Alex, and Emma. Her family will miss her quick wit, infectious smile, strong sense of self, and sharp intelligence. Caroline is survived by her husband Jeffrey Loh; her children Ryan, Alex, and Emma Loh; her father Shoou-Yuh Chang; and her sister Judy Chang.
