Charles H.L. Wong's Obituary
Charles H.L. Wong, 92, passed away on August 10, 2023. Born October 20, 1930, in Hilo, Hawaii. He was the youngest of 10 children. Charles was a graduate of the University of Hawaii, and the University of Michigan with degrees in Agriculture and Electrical Engineering. He retired from Hawaiian Telephone in 1992 with over 30 years of service. Charles was an avid tennis player and a Saturday morning regular at the Kanewai Courts. He also loved the ocean and fishing, with fishing adventures ranging from Hilo to Alaska.
“Charlie”, “Uncle Loy”, “Goong Goong”, “Dad” was a beloved and dedicated family man who will be dearly missed by his wife of 62 years Eleanor Wong, sons Carlson Wong (Lana), Emery Wong (Michelle), Aldrin Wong (Stephanie), and daughter Shana Wong Solares (Richard), and 8 grandchildren, cousins, nephews and nieces and many friends.
