Claron Ngit Hoon Pong
89, passed away in Honolulu on December
10, 2018. Born in Honolulu on February 8, 1929 to Fai and Chong Shee Pong, he was a graduate of St. Louis High School (Class of 1949) and earned his pharmacy degree from Washington State University (Class of 1955). He briefly served as a pharmacist in the
U.S. Army at Tripler Hospital. Claron was a devout Catholic, a member of the Holy Name Society, as well as an active member of St. Patrick’s Church. He loved music and sang regularly in the church choir. His career as a pharmacist included ownership of Continental
Drugs as well as serving others through his work stints at Sav Mor, Stuart’s Pharmacy, and Holiday Mart/Daiei/Don Quixote eventually retiring from the Pali Long’s Drugs. He volunteered for the Aloha Medical Mission, making yearly trips to the Philippines for
a number years. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by Pacita (his wife of 53 years); sons Erick (Carmen), Edward (Linda), Erwin (Kathryn), and Elmer (Alie); daughter Joni; grandchildren Devyn, Aidan, Samantha, Sophie, Lauren,
and Phoebe; brother Richard (Kwai Fong); sisters Ella Loui and Violet Chan; sister-in-law Wai Quon Pong;
nephews & nieces.
Services:
Visitation 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.; Memorial Service and Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 02, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Kaimuki. Burial: 12:30 p.m. at Diamond Head Cemetery, lunch to follow at Happy Days Chinese Restaurant
in Kaimuki. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made
to the Aloha Medical Mission or St. Patrick’s Church. Family requests aloha or casual attire.
