The Bartoldus Family
We had Donovan in our lives a very short time and yet when we talk among ourselves the stories keep going on and on. Yes we sometimes outright laugh an always smile through our tears as we recall what he brought to us - the adults, our children and grandchildren.
We are grateful sister Daintry made him a part of our life.
We learned because of Donovan’s size and age he was often put into environments beyond his capabilities causing him frustration, fear, anger and sometimes-downright boredom. We did our best to shelter and protect him from those moments and patiently tiptoed through them with him when needed.
We admired his talents, loved his manners, his caring, and his sharing and held our breath at his humor. Even if it took that certain look to remind him “Is that appropriate?” most of the time it came immediately, sometimes with an apology other times with a quick jab of humor.
We all have been soaked with balloons, tossed a football, ran a foot race, body bumped, picked up off our feet, swung around by this giant of a kid and watched endless hours of You Tube clips reminding us to not always take life so seriously.
Donovan will be sorely missed he was always in our thoughts and a part of our plans. His unexpected passing brings us grief and calls to mind a quote read so long ago:
How blessed I am to have known someone
Who is so hard to say goodbye to
