This is woefully late, but I was a student of Dr. Bleecker's back in 1985. I remember he was such a brilliant man but did not lord it over his lower-division students who were struggling to learn calculus III. It was so nice running into him at the UH Manoa cafeteria many years later. While there were some issues going on in his life, he was still the smart, kind man that I remember from 1985. I regret not having the chance to engage with him more over the years.
