Came to know brother Ed in the early 1990's. I stayed with Hazel and Ed at the house for a few months and came to know him as a fun-loving character devoted to his family especially his beautiful mom, Hazel. Light hearted and ever so whimsical with mom. They'd get up and dance whenever Hazel was in the mood. Always gracious and protective.
Over the years, I've come to learn the deep roots of the De Hearn family patriarchs whose arrival on the ships landed on the Big Island to resettling on the island of Oahu. An the story is so rich of the family home on Wilder Ave. to Ocean View Dr. I came to know Ed as a dear friend and a brother like no other. In recent years Ed faced steep challenges with his health, but always kept a brave face and pleasant wit. In February the holy angels came to take him to his resting place with all the 'ohana and friends over there. They are having a grand time, Hazel has her dancing partner once again. God speed brother Ed! me kealoha pau 'ole,(unending love) your sistah Jo-Ann and Odin!
