Edward H Ginoza's Obituary
Edward was born in Honolulu to Ushi Kiyuto Ginoza on 9/29/1934. He was a graduate of Kaimuki High School, class of 1952, and grew up on Waialae, on Oili Road. He married Helen Taba and raised 4 children together in Manoa Valley.
He worked as a welder and estimator with S and M Welding Co.
While retired, he enjoyed traveling, going to Las Vegas, watching UH sports, Japanese shows, and meeting up with friends at Kahala Mall and Zippy's for lunch. Seeing friends was what he looked forward to in his later years. These meetings with friends and family during the holidays and celebrations were the only times he would not be seated in front of the TV.
His later years, he lived simply, with minimal needs. He liked coffee, cookies (especially Nabisco Nutter Butter peanut butter wafer cookies), tempura, Ricola, the TV, and using the massage chair. Most of all he loved oxtail soup. Even as his appetite lessened, we know if we took him out for oxtail soup, he would eat it all. So his later birthdays, and Father's Days were all spent at Asahi Grill.
Ed was predeceased by his wife, Helen of 67 years, and his daughter Edie (Robert Lahaina II) Simerson.
He is survived by his son Dean, daughters Terri Yoshinaga, and Kathy (Randal) Arakaki, 4 grandchildren,
Robert (Tina) Lahaina Simerson III, Travis (Su) Yoshinaga, Quinn & Tate Arakaki, and 4 great grandchildren Cody & Evie Simerson, and Sean Woong (Tiara) & Sean Oh Yoo. Sisters Grace Sakumoto, Clara Ginoza & Moe Ogomori, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
We are grateful to all for the love and support he received from family, friends and neighbors who have visited, taken him out, brought food and called him. We're sorry that he didn't answer the phone due to being hard of hearing and hard head, not wanting to wear his hearing aid.
We feel blessed that God took Dad without a drawn-out illness and any pain and suffering. We know that dad is happy to be with Mom again and is resting in peace with the Lord.
