Ella Tsuneko Teruya's Obituary
Ella Tsuneko Teruya, beloved mother, granny, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away March 4, 2019 at Hale Pulama Mau in Honolulu. She was 98 years old. Born May 23, 1920 in Hakalau, Hawaii to parents Matsukichi Miyashiro and Matsu Kawakami Miyashiro, Ella owned her own beauty salon, was the Vice-President of Fumio Teruya, Ltd. (aka: Teruya Electric), which she owned with her late husband Fumio Teruya, and was a founder and Past President of Hui O Laulima, Hawaii United Okinawa Association.
She is survived by three sons, Allan F. (Kory F.) Teruya, Wesley M. (Joanne T.) Teruya and Nathan K. Teruya; three grandchildren, Julie A.Y. Teruya, Jill M.A. Teruya and Kenny J.N. (Maggie) Teruya; great-grandchildren, Asher M. Teruya, Dane H. Teruya and Ella M. Teruya; brother, Macky Miyashiro.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Diamond Head Mortuary (535 18th Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96816). Visitation will be from 1:00-1:30 p.m. Memorial service will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a reception to follow. Private burial of ashes will be held at Diamond Head Memorial Park at a later date.
