Celebrating the Life of Emmaline Laniali'i Choy
June 8th, 1935 – January 15th, 2026
We gather to celebrate the beautiful life of Emmaline Laniali'i Choy, a woman known for her kind, supportive, and hardworking spirit. Her journey began in La'ie, Oahu, Hawaii, and each step that followed added warmth and color to the lives around her.
Growing up in La'ie, Emmaline learned early the value of caring for others. Those island roots shaped her steady compassion and the strong work ethic she carried into every chapter of life.
Emmaline spent her career with the State of Hawaii Department of Education as a cafeteria worker, greeting students and staff each day with quiet dedication. She retired from that role, proud of the many young people she served and encouraged along the way.
Family remained Emmaline’s greatest joy. She is survived by her son Michael Choy and his wife Lori, daughter-in-law Liann Choy, and cherished grandchildren Jarrett, Brett, Lacie, Kash, Tanner, Landon, and Karson. Their laughter and success were her favorite stories to share.
Loved ones remember Emmaline as the first to lend a hand and the last to seek praise. Her support offered steady comfort, and her example showed that true strength often shines in everyday acts of care.
As we honor Emmaline’s life in Honolulu, we hold tight to the lessons she lived: work hard, stay kind, and lift one another. May these memories keep her bright spirit close in the days ahead.
