George Albert Evans' Obituary
George Albert Evans, 72 of Honolulu Hawaii passed away September 4, 2014 in Honolulu. He was born on November 19, 1941 in Jacksonville Florida to Harold and Cora Evans. Raised in New Orleans Louisiana. Mr. Evans is a graduate of Isidore Newman School, New Orleans FL and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He received an MBA from the George Washington University, Washington D. C.
Honorably retired from the U. S. Navy as a Commander in 1984. Awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal w/combat "V" , Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, RVN Campaign Medal, and RVN Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation (Gallantry Cross).
Preceded in death by brothers Dr. John and RADM Thomas Evans. Surviving are nephew Dr. Jerry Evans (great niece Cora and great nephew Garret) from Winston-Salem NC, niece Mary Culver PhD (great nieces Rebecca and Lilly Culver) from Charleston SC, niece Barbara Evans-Miller (great niece Kenna and great nephew Heath) from Lexington KY, niece Leigh Davis (great nieces Ella and Kate) from Norfolk VA, niece Carolyn Renteria from Arlington VA, sisters-in-law Dorothy Evans from Arlington VA and Carol Evans from Farragut TN, and many friends in Hawaii and on the mainland.
