Geraldine Sumiye Nagahisa's Obituary
Geraldine Sumie Nagahisa July 29, 1924 - July 29, 2019.
Was born in Kohala Hawaii. She was born ni-sei. Her dad came from Urasoe, Okinawa and her mom from Shuri, Okinawa. She was the youngest of 5 siblings.
She was known as "Gerry" by her friends and "Gram" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by Her 3 children Mona, Janice and Scott Nagahisa. She also has 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Gerry enjoyed traveling the world hiking. Some of her favorite destinations were Tanzania, Thai Land, New Zealand, Holland,Costa Rica, and U.S. to name a few. She would collect and make amazingly beautiful dried wreathes made of materials she collected. She would share them with her friends and family over the holidays. Basket weaving, pottery, feather lei making, she was incredible with her hands.
During the latter part of her life she spent a lot of time in her garden and snuggling up with a good book. She always enjoyed sharing her stories of her early days as well as her travels. She would light up every time when she would share her stories.
Gerry passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones.
Sharing so much with others she will be missed but not forgotten.
