Gordon Lee's Obituary
Gordon F. Y. Lee, 85, beloved husband, father and devoted grandfather passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024 at home in Kaneohe, HI. He is survived by his beloved wife Ivy Lee, sons Jeffrey James Lee, Jeremy Joel Lee, Darryl Freeman Jr., daughters Haunani Freeman, Charmaine Freeman, Ivy Mellen, Desiree Albano, Carla Freeman, 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Gordon was born on April 9, 1938 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Saint Louis High School and the University of Hawaii. Gordon joined the Honolulu Police Department in 1960. He was Officer of the Year in 1976, the Lieutenant-in-charge of the Homicide-Robbery details, the first to utilize hypnosis in investigations and retired as the Major in charge of the Criminal Investigation Division.
Gordon was an avid waterman, a certified scuba diver and Sergeant First class green beret paratrooper with the 24th Special Forces Group, 1st Special forces based in Okinawa. He did four tours of duty in service to his country.
He served as the president of the Aha Hui O Maka’i Hauola Club, vice-president of the Honolulu Police Federal Credit Union, secretary of the Honolulu Police Relief Association and in 1979 was the founding treasurer of the Hawaii Police Athletic Federation, a non-profit organization supporting police athletics.
After retiring from the police department he incorporated Gordon Lee Investigative & Security Services. He then joined Bank of Hawaii’s security department in 1988, earning multiple employee of the month awards and retired in 2004 as an Assistant Vice President.
Services to be held at Diamond Head Mortuary on March 9, 2024. Visitation: 10:00 am; Celebration of Life: 11:00. Burial to follow at 2:00 pm at Hawaiian Memorial Cemetery.
