Gordon Leong's Obituary
Gordon FY Leong, 88, of Moanalua Valley, Honolulu, died peacefully on Feb 4, 2024, with his wife, daughters and their families by his side. Gordon was born to the late James and Ruth Leong on June 30, 1935. He graduated from Maryknoll High, University of Hawaii with a BBA, and served in the Navy Reserve.
Gordon worked at Von Hamm Young Finance, Seaboard Finance and retired from the Bank of Hawaii Student Loan Dept, at the age 55 in 1990.
He enjoyed 33 years of blissful retirement. He spent many hours working in his garden and setting up outdoor fishponds and opai ula aquariums. But his greatest joy was being with his family: whether it was traveling, surfing, teaching them the art of poker, giving history quizzes and tips on finance, rooting for the 49er's, promoting TRUMP, or going to Tanaka of Tokyo and Rokaru Shabu Shabu.
Gordon is survived by Jean (Uyeda) (married 62 years ago on Feb. 11, 1961), daughters Lila (Tony Pagtulingan, Sean & wife Jackie, Chad & wife Kristen, Karly, and Luke), Joli (Douglas Toth, Stephen, Daniel & wife Jaquelyn, Kelly, Gordon & Kevin) and Gina (Jason Samala, Alexis & great grand-son Kaizen, Kohl and Ayden). He is predeceased by siblings Lesley, Frank & Bernadette.
Visitation 9:30am, Eulogy 10:00am, Mass 10:30am on Monday, March 11, 2024, at St. Philomena’s Catholic Church.
