In addition to my first post, one night I was with him, he told me about a dream of his, in which he was on an island, a dream that eventually became reality!
I feel privileged to have known this accomplished person who was also cheerful, alert and kind as described in his obituary!
Gerrry and I shared a lot of fun together our senior year (1961.) With me as bashful with the fair sex and Gerry stuck on a girl committed to another, we celebrated holidays in various ways. One night we saw”Breakfast at Tiffany’s ,another we went sledding at a nearby golf course. We alsparticipated in a-five man, eight day canoe trip in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. The other three campers were David Ferguson, Dick Layman and Phil Russell, (I am not certain, but believe that Dick was the primary organizer.) outside of the first night the weather was splendid!
Jerry was an across-the-hall occupant in the Rice Hall dorm at Gettysburg College in 1961. I never saw him not smiling when seeing/meeting up with me for the next four years.
His accomplishments in life were outstanding. A life well lived.
