James William Nurre's Obituary
We celebrate the life of James William Nurre — “Jim” to everyone who knew and loved him — a devoted husband, father, brother, veteran, and friend whose life was filled with curiosity, laughter, and connection.
Born on November 19, 1946, Jim lived a life defined by service, hard work, and kindness. He proudly dedicated 28 years to the United States Army, serving his country with honor before beginning a second career in sales, where his outgoing personality and ability to connect with people continued to shine.
Jim liked watching documentaries and could often be found learning about history or sharing interesting facts and stories. He enjoyed cooking, questionably fixing things around the house, and spending time sailing during his younger years. Whether helping someone with a project, or starting up a conversation with a stranger, Jim had a gift for simply making others feel welcomed.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Nurre; his children, Jason Nurre and Devon Nurre (Justin); and his siblings, Robert (Vicki), Patty, and Mary Ellen (Gary). While we mourn his passing on January 25, 2026, at the age of 79, we also celebrate a life well lived and the many memories he leaves behind. Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A funeral service honoring Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Diamond Head Mortuary & Williams Funeral Services.
