Sharon Louie
I met Joannie while working at UH Athletics. We both shared the stress and joys of the job and love of animals. We became lunch partners and good friends. That was over 20 years ago.
I will miss not being able to call and ask what the weather will be like for the day, window shopping at the malls, eating lunch at different restaurants --hers consisting of some kind of meat and mine usually chicken or fish. Then there was the visits to the Humane Society--cat houses for her and dog kennels for me.
We bounced questions off each other about house renovations, projects, yard maintenance problems and our pets--her cats and my dogs and birds.
She could be stubborn and impatient--which she jokingly said it must come from her Polish side--and was always diagnosing her symptoms so I called her Dr. Lee.
I will miss her smile, companionship and friendship. There is a feeling of loss but at the same time joy in my heart knowing my good friend is with her mom and dad once more and they are in the comforting arms of our Heavenly Father.
