Juergen Heberle's Obituary
HEBERLE, Juergen passed away peacefully at Arcadia Retirement Residence on Friday, October 23, 2020, in his 95th year. He is survived by his children Tom (Ajin) and Laura (John); and grandchildren Lindsay and Matthew.
He was predeceased by his wife Dorothea Heberle(nee Lindsay), parents Rudolf and Fransiska Heberle (nee Toennies), and brother Hinnerk. He is survived by his sister Antje Kolodziej.
Juergen Heberle was born on May 9, 1925, in Königsberg, Germany. In June 1938, he immigrated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He graduated from Swarthmore College in 1944 with an undergraduate degree in physics. After serving in the U.S. Army, Dr. Heberle continued his studies in physics and was awarded his PhD from Columbia University in 1955.
Dr. Heberle’s career included working as a researcher at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois, two years as a guest professor and researcher in Germany, in addition to twenty years working as a physics professor in the State University of New York at Buffalo.
For the past 19 years, Dr. Heberle was a resident of Hawaii.
