Leonard Keith Brown, 92, died peacefully at his home in Hawaii Kai, Oahu on July 24, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he was a friend to everyone he met. Keith was born in Ames Iowa and spent his Read Obituary
Keith Brown was not only a mentor, but a wonderful friend. I was fortunate to study under his direction at Pitt and always enjoyed his warm smile, potent teasing, and intellectual depth. There are few people in my life who have had as significant an influence as Keith. It was an honor to be his student and to become his friend and I miss him greatly.
So many memorable moments from our visit with my Uncle Keith in Honolulu in late Dec. My wife Linda & I from St. Louis look forward to celebrating his life today with our family and his friends.

He always brought such enthusiasm and insight to our Japan anthropology meetings--here, in Urbana, to celebrate our colleague Dave Plath (seated on the right). Keith was such a steadfast colleague and stimulating teacher, caring and curious and humane. Deeply missed but will always be remembered fondly.
