Ms. Kristine Fukumoto's Obituary
Kristine Fukumoto, 56, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on May 6, 2026. She was born on April 24, 1970 in Waipahu, Hawaii.
Kris was many things. Loud, bold, and beautifully eccentric. She walked into every room and made it hers, and she walked out having made a friend out of everyone in it. She loved fiercely and without condition, opening her heart even to children who weren’t her own. Above everything else, she was a mother. To Merick, Drake, and Alexus, and to every child who ever needed someone in their corner. She was a dreamer and a builder, always chasing the next idea, the next venture, the next version of what her life could be. She had more left to give, more left to do, and more left to become. But she leaves behind a life that was anything but quiet and a love that never stopped reaching.
She is survived by her children Alexus Fukumoto, Merick Fukumoto, Drake Fukumoto and his wife Chylee Fukumoto; their father Raymie Fukumoto; their grandparents Jean and Russell Fukumoto; her parents Howard and Donna Oki; her sister Kandace Oki-Davis and husband Matt Davis; and her nephews Dez Oki-Takahashi, Orin and Logan Oki-Davis. She is also survived by an extended family and community of friends who loved her deeply.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii, 2454 S. Beretania Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96826. Doors open at 11:00 AM. The memorial service will begin at 12:00 PM. The celebration will also be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
