Lester Ginn Leung Wee's Obituary
Lester Ginn Leung Wee, 98, passed away February 04, 2018. He was born on July 26, 1919 to Wing Yip and Choy Kim Seto Wee of Honolulu and was also raised by his stepmother, Mary Lum Wee. He was a proud graduate of both Mun Lun Chinese School and St. Louis High School, class of 1937.
Lester was an honest, trustworthy and hard working man of principle as demonstrated during his tenure as Head State Bank Examiner for the State of Hawaii.
He was an active member of the See Yup and Yee Yee Tong Chinese Societies for over 70 years. Lester joined the societies when his father was an active member. He was president of both societies and served as treasurer for 30 years as well as director for 10 years.
In 1944 Lester married Kam Wai (Wainnie) Lum, his sweetheart and schoolmate from Mun Lun Chinese School. They did everything together. He and his lovely wife of 66 years nurtured a loving family. They were fortunate to be able to travel and especially enjoyed their Las Vegas vacations until Kam Wai passed away in October 2010.
He is survived by son Wendell (Donna) Wee, daughter Charlene (Ivan) Ahkoi, and daughter-in-law Lola Hiatt; grandchildren Keola (Jeanelle) Ahuna, Noah (Kei) Wee, Kevin Young, Shelley (Ikaika) Uchima, and Max Wee; great grandchildren Aaron and Abigail Ahuna, Makanalani Wee, and Kalanimoku Uchima, brothers Francis, Mervin and Clifford Wee, and sister Florence Lau; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kam Wai Wee, son Clayton Wee, brother Harry Wee, and sister Dorothy Wong.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held March 15, 2018 at Diamond Head Mortuary with visitation at 10:00 am followed by service at 11:00 am and burial to follow at Diamond Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m.
