Louis Tsui Yee Ching's Obituary
Louis Tsui Yee Ching (Sonny/Louie) passed away peacefully at his residence on January 15, 2024. Louis was born in Honolulu on July 7,1930, the 2nd of 3 children born to You Sun Ching and Lillian Yuk Jun Choy. He attended Cathedral Catholic School and graduated from St. Louis High School in 1948. He served in the US Air Force at Hickam Air Force Base. Upon being honorably discharged, he attended USC-University of Southern California, with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. He was hired by IBM. He met his wife of 63 years, Peggy Sau Yee Loo. He was very proud to be an IBM salesperson representative and enjoyed being challenged. He also began his interest in real estate sales. Louie attended Waikiki Realty night classes and obtained his license as a Real Estate Agent.
After retiring from IBM, Louie liked keeping busy and pursued his next careers as a real estate agent and travel agent. Through Waikiki Realty, Louie embarked on his next career as a Travel Agent for Ala World Travel. Louie loved traveling and meeting many new people and doing what he loved best, being accommodating and serving others. Ala World specialized in Las Vegas tours and followed and cheered on the UH Warriors Football team. In 2010, Louie REALLY retired! He remained active with all his hobbies which included his grandchildren, watching NFL football, reading about real estate, following the stock market, eating at many restaurants and GOING TO CHURCH EVERY DAY!
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sau Yee Loo Ching of 63 years. His sister, Victoria Ching Tom (Richard), his brother, Frederick Ching (Sharon), his daughters: Megin Young (Emory), Lois Nitta (Albert), Celeste Lum (Darren), his grandchildren: Marina and Madisyn Young, Dane and Danton Nitta, Shane, Jarrett, Tara and Jaylene Lum. He was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Louis was a MAGNIFICENT part of our lives. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE MEMORIAL will be held on: Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel-535 18th Avenue. Visitation: 9:00-10:00 a.m., Service: 10:00 a.m., Lunch to follow. Burial: 12:30 p.m. at Diamond Head Memorial Park.
