I knew Lowell at Northwestern. He was so loving and fun to be around! Years later, after only a Christmas card relationship, I met up with him and he spent a day showing me the beauty and heartbreak of the Honolulu area. He accomplished so much more than most people could have through his dedication to relationship. Farewell dear friend!

I knew Lowell briefly when we served together on the Pew Civic Entrepreneurship Project. I was fairly new to community development at the time and admired Lowell for speaking his mind with such clarity, passion and honesty. My fondest memory is chatting with him at the airport on one of our trips on behalf of Pew. At first I was intimidated by him but he made me feel at ease. We didn't talk much about the program because we already did that in the group setting. Lowell seemed really interested in me as a person. Unfortunately I lost touch with Lowell because I moved to the mainland shortly after completing the program. I read of his passing in the OHA newspaper and wanted to express how much of an impression on me in such a short time. Mahalo.
