Maurice Douglas Freedman's Obituary
Peacefully, and surrounded with the spirit of aloha our daddy, grandpa, uncle, dear friend of many and loyal husband of 60 years to our mom, Clarice(deceased 2010), passed away on Monday, August 23rd .
Maury leaves behind daughters Cheryl Freedman, Myrna Pawlick (husband Rob) from Vancouver B.C. Canada and Patti Freedman of Honolulu, Hawaii. His beautiful grandchildren Amber (husband Wes) Gentle of Vancouver, B.C. and Shannon Pawlick of Mississauga, Ontario, will also miss him dearly.
Grandson Matthew Adam Pawlick of Calgary, Alberta who passed away far too young in 1978, will finally meet his Grandpa.
Nephews and nieces across Canada and the United States, of whom there are so many to list, will remember his wonderful sense of humor, kindness and passion for good food and great company.
Dad, a very proud WWII veteran (Canadian Navy), had a long and illustrious career in broadcasting that spanned almost 50 years. After decades at various radio stations across Canada, he moved to Washington State where he worked in television at KIRO Seattle and retired in 1991.
After his beautiful wife passed away he moved to Hawaii in 2010 where he enjoyed his twilight years soaking up the sun, swimming in the ocean and toasting sunsets with a mai tai or glass of his favorite red wine.
He will always be remembered for his stories, jokes and a big smile with a twinkle in his eye.
Aloha, Maury. Ke akua pu a hui hou kāua (God be with you until we meet again).
A private celebration of life will be held this Fall. Date TBD pending Covid-19 restrictions. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to your local humane society or hospice care facility.
