Alan Kido
Karen, Kevin and the Mukai Ohana:
It has been a while since I have seen all of you. Once our kids are off to new adventures and opportunities we often find ourselves back into our routines and our paths don't cross as often as they did at Punahou. Hearing of Mel's passing was a surprise and very sad. Grace, Nick and I send our aloha and deepest sympathy to all of you at this most difficult time.
While we know things don't last forever, we do overcome this short life we live through the memories we leave and the people we touch. Perhaps it was the ex-military background Mel and I shared (even if it wasn't Air Force) that made our conversations seem like we have known each other since small kid times. He was a very good man and his love and pride for all of you was always there. He has left a positive impression on me, which I hope will make me a better person, dad, husband and friend. I hope he has left enough wonderful memories to keep him forever in your hearts.
There is little I can do or say to fill that void you all must feel. But you know that if there is anything you need, please let me know. We will not be able to make the service today, but our thoughts will be with all of you.
With peace and aloha,
the Kidos
