Richard, Randy and Family,

Mildred was one of the most intelligent, dedicated and caring persons that we have had the honor of working closely with at the University of Hawaii. She played a leading role in the establishment of our Institutional Research Office and the information and data produced by that office provided the basis for much of our planning and evaluation of UH programs and projects. We know that she will be sorely missed by all her friends and family, but we can find comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace, joining our Lord in his house up above. Please accept our sincere condolences.

Dear Dick and Randy:

Kazu and I had been thinking of you and Mildred over the past few months, wondering how you were doing and considering visiting with you at Kahala Nui. We were, of course, deeply saddened upon reading the news of Mildred's passing but at the same time recalling the good times spent together over lunch or dinners together. Mildred was an inspiration and role model for me, and I regret not having acknowledged this fact to her personally over the many times we spent together working on projects or enjoying each other's company. She was one of a kind, truly outstanding in so many ways--her demeanor, work products, relationships with friends and associates, in so many ways. She will long be remembered and inspired by all who had the good fortune to have met her and enjoyed her friendship.
