Nancy Ann Powers' Obituary
Nancy Ann Powers, of Honolulu, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at home on September 11, 2024 surrounded by family. She was born on January 28,1935 in Malden, Massachusetts as Nancy Ann Coggan. She was the daughter of Eleanor Katherine (nee Morton) and Marcellus Sumner Coggan and the sister of the late Marcia Coggan Graham. She graduated from Cohasset High school and attended Fisher Junior College in Boston.
Nancy was smart, funny and talented. She loved to write, paint, draw and sing. While working in Honolulu and Los Angeles, she had a varied and interesting career as a writer, editor, copywriter and researcher. She retired in Honolulu in 2000 to become a full time grandmother. Her favorite thing was to gather with family and play word games. She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Powers Grant, Amy Powers Parker, and Julie Powers Parks, of Honolulu, and stepdaughter Karen Powers Ucker, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by stepson George "Buddy" Powers and ex-husband George "Smoke" F. Powers.
Nancy loved deeply and laughed hard. She was well-loved and will be missed by many. There will be a Private Celebration of Life.
