Norman Seichi Higa's Obituary
Norman Seichi Higa died on January 11, 2025, at the Adventist Castle Hospital surrounded by his family. Private services have been held. He is resting in peace at the National Cemetery of the Pacific. He was born on August 3, 1931. While attending Kaimuki High School, some of his best days were spent as a caddy at the Waialae Country Club where he developed lifelong friendships. After graduation, he served in the United States Army from October 10, 1951, through September 4, 1953. He was fortunate to be stationed in Germany during the Korean War during which he lost some childhood friends. A year after his discharge, he met and married his wife, Mutsu. He worked at Lewers & Cooke, Art C. Neely, Inc., Hydra Air and DeRocher; always in sales. His customers and colleagues still remember him fondly. He worked two jobs to save enough for a down-payment for a house and moved to Hawaii Kai in 1967 where he lived until he passed away. He attended every sports game for his children and grandchildren that he could. He helped coach Gerry’s Little League baseball team. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Moanalua Golf Club. He even took a part-time job at the Hawaii Kai Golf Course after his retirement and enjoyed golf as often as he could. In addition to Mutsu, he is survived by three children: Katy Akimoto (Denis), Tim Higa (Karen) and Gerry Higa (Sheri), six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
