Norman Toshio Shinno's Obituary
Norman Toshio Shinno, age 64 of 'Aiea. joined his Redeemer in heaven on September 17, 2024. After gracefully living three years with pancreatic cancer, Norman passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends.
Raised on the island of Kaua'i, Norman was a scholar athlete at Kauai High School, excelling in both baseball and basketball. He went on to earn a spot on the UH baseball team and a degree in civil engineering.
He worked many years as the Manager of Grace Pacific Maui, Kauai, Lanai and Molokai island operations, lastly serving as vice president of Nakoa Guam.
Norman resided for significant periods of time on both Maui and Oahu.
Norman's family, friends and coworkers remember him as a loving family man, a faithful servant of God, a hard worker, an athlete, and a gentle-spoken individual who's kindness, compassion, and generosity knew no bounds. He was everyone's best friend and every person he met felt blessed to know him. He loved playing golf with his Hale Bruddahs, traveling, sharing a good Napa Cab, cigars, watching sports, spending time with loved ones and friends, and being an amazing Father, Brother, Uncle, and Grandfather.
Throughout his health journey, Norman's unwavering trust in God's strength and peace remained ever present. Let us all know that he is free, in the presence of our Lord, watching from above, shining a beautiful light on us all.
Norman is survived by daughter Rachael Ellebracht (Alex), son Ryne James Shinno and grandson Cole Ellebracht, former wife Jill Shinno, siblings Lucille Austin (Eric), Judi Young (Jed), Naomi Fukushima (Jesse), Eugene Shinno, Gene Shinno (Barbi), Pat Tanaka, Carolyn Kanoho, and Ronald Shinno, partner Lisa Fulton, and many nieces and nephews.
Norman's family celebrates a life lived fully and beautifully, grounded in faith strong and pure. The family sincerely thanks all who have supported Norman, especially over the last few years as the prayers and aloha have made a tremendous impact on his journey.
Let us remember Norman Shinno always, keeping in our hearts the memories, the love, and his winner smile.
