Philip Mark's Obituary
Reverend Philip Hung Wei Mark, 78, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, at Castle Adventist Health.
He was born on July 12,1947 in Seattle, Washington to the late Dr. Shelley Mark and Janet Chong Mark. He was ordained in 1974 and served a life in ministry with the Hawaii United Church of Christ, as an associate pastor at Makiki Christian Church, founding senior pastor at Hawaii Kai United Church of Christ, and senior pastor at United Church of Christ Judd Street. He also served as an Associate Conference Minister for Placement and Church Development with the Hawaii United Church of Christ Conference.
Phil had a passion for faith, family, and music. He played guitar, keyboard and wrote songs. Recently, he had learned the harmonica and often played with the Hawaii Kai United Church of Christ praise team during Sunday services.
He lived with Parkinson’s Disease for over 28 years, and was an advocate supporting research, awareness, and community groups.
Many loved ones described him as a “quiet warrior” - kind, gentle and wise. He deeply cared about God and people, especially his church family and community.
He is survived by his wife, Adrienne Lee Mark; children Kristin (Robert) Geong, Shannon, Joel (Janice) Mark, grandchildren Tevin, Isaiah, Lindsey, Titus, and Lily; and siblings Diane Mark, Paul (Betty) Mark, and Peter (Vanessa) Mark.
