Polly Khalife's Obituary
Polly Khalife of Honolulu, HI passed away on February 10, 2023 at the age of 89. She was surrounded by family in her home.
Polly was born August 31, 1933 in Alexandria, Egypt. She was the youngest of four and the only girl. On December 13, 1954 she married Freddi Khalife in Alexandria. There they had their son, Frank. They were forced to leave Egypt during the Suez Crisis in 1956. They then moved to England, where they had their daughters Marilyn and Sandra. The family (including their cat, Tiger) moved to Washington State, USA in 1976. In 1983, Polly and Freddi moved to Honolulu, where they made many good friends.
Polly was an amazing woman who was very loved in her community. She was known for her kindness, generosity, loyalty, empathy, and big heart. Many of the children in her condominium complex loved her as a grandma. As her bridge partners and domino group knew well, she also had a competitive spirit.
She went to the pool everyday faithfully at 4pm and strongly encouraged her friends to join her. She crocheted scarves and hats for charity. She was a jigsaw puzzle master. She was involved in the local thrift shop and a member of Temple Emanu-El. She was also a volunteer for the Diamond Head Theatre for many years.
Polly is preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers, and husband. She is survived by her children Frank (Rhonda), Marilyn, and Sandra; and grandchildren Jillian (Emily) and Marcus. We carry her in our hearts forever.
