Robert Wai Mun Chong's Obituary
Robert Wai Mun Chong, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2020 at the age of 93.
Robert was born on March 11, 1927, in Honolulu, to the late Yee Sang and late Tai Moy (Pang Shee) Chong. He graduated from Purdue University with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Civil Engineering after serving in the Army. For 23 years, Robert was a Professional Civil Engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Honolulu District. During his career, he worked as the Kwajalein Program Manager until he retired in September 1983.
Robert is survived by his wife, Nora (Wong) Chong; children, Nathan, Diane, and Roland (Diane); grandchildren, Mark, Ruby (Reese), Philip, Byron, Thomas (Natsu), Amanda, Eric, and Geoffrey; and sister, Elsie Yee. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary Loo and Alice Young.
Beloved by many, Robert will be deeply missed by his family and grandchildren.
