Rodney Toshiyuki Oshima's Obituary
Rodney “Rod” Oshima, age 69, of Mililani, Hawaii passed away on March 7, 2021. Rod was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 9, 1951 and lived his life on the island enjoying all that it has to offer. He was owner and operator of Diamond Head Plants, which he founded in 1972, spending each day surrounded by one of his life passions. He also enjoyed surfing, traveling, animals, and sharing his knowledge and skills with others. Rod was a caring and compassionate man who was always eager to share all he had to offer with those he loved, especially fruits he had grown and delicious treats he had discovered. Rod is survived by his wife, Debi; his mother, Betty; his brothers, Wes (Chung), Ken, Dan (Kathy); stepdaughters, Michele, Deanna, Crystal; grandchildren, Daniele, Destinee, Ryan, Gavin; great-grandson, Roman; Nieces, Brittany, Jessica; Nephew, Braydon; his dogs, Bruno, Kohole, Lilo; his cat, Kiki; tortoises, birds and cats that he cared for; along with many friends and chosen o’hana. A private memorial service will take place for immediate family. A public celebration of life and a paddle out to unite him eternally with the ocean will take place on April 17, 2021 at 9 am at Laniakea Beach.
