I first met Roxie when we were 10 at Koko head elementary Summer fun. We had just moved to Hawaii kai a few months earlier and I used to see her playing in the yard with her family. I so wanted to go and say Hi but was too scared. In summer fun I got the courage to go up her and say
"You're the girl up the street"
Her response was Yeah and not to warm but I persevered.
From then on we became best of friends.
We would sneak out in the middle of the night and go walking around all over the place. She would come and knock on my bedroom window. I would climb out and off we went.
In school we were inseparable.
It was either just her and I or sometimes Suzanne would join us playing trumps everyday.
1972 my family went back to Australia and Roxie made a surprise visit to me. I was in tears when I saw her.
I came back to Hawaii in 1974.
Roxie lived with me for a few years helping me with my son James.
Roxie, her cousin cookie and I became the 3 musketeers.
Went on numerous trips to outer islands together. We hung out alot at cookies house in kaimuki.
We laughed a lot all the time.
As years went on we went our separate ways as life does to all. Every now and then we would connect again.
I have such fun memories of our times together and will never forget her.
