Roy Tetsuro Kaneko's Obituary
Roy Tetsuro Kaneko, 82, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by all of his loving family on March 15, 2020. Born in Honolulu on November 23, 1937, Roy attended McKinley High School and the University of Hawaii, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. Roy worked tirelessly in a leadership position for the City and County of Honolulu Department of Transportation Services until his retirement.
In retirement Roy’s life was filled by two loves: golf and his grandchildren. When Roy wasn’t golfing, he was dutifully babysitting and spoiling Taryn, Austin, Garin, Pasia, Addison, Logan, Tyce, Kolby, Jace and Brady. For Roy, family was his heart and soul and he did anything and everything for them.
Roy will be remembered for his quiet strength, wisdom, sacrifice, unselfishness, courageousness, quick wit and undying love for his family.
Roy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Annette, sons Ross (Ada), Lee (Mitzi), Reid (Shannon) and his doting daughter Keri (Alvin) Paguio, along with 10 special grandchildren.
Private services will be held on May 22, 2021 at Diamond Head Mortuary. A public walk-through visitation will be from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm.
