Joan Helbling
Sharon was the Thrift Shop Manager! She was so dedicated, so real, so human. Perhaps, this was because she was a teacher in her life before retirement. She was so accepting of new help, trying to help us learn the ropes. I remember how she loved colorful jewelry and wore it proudly along with our blue ALH Tee shirt. We used to tease with the phrase, "Breath like a Bear," when things got tense at the shop. I remember me meeting "Mr. Wolf," who sharpens knives and knows about metal working," And then I learned that Mr. Wolf teaches kids at Assets School about his craft. Sharon had a way with our customers. So many folks have asked about her since she was no longer seen at the store. One family, who have been visiting our store for years, mentioned that she watched our children grow up, she was so kind, so helpful, so caring. I know that they would attend her Celebration of Life if they knew where and how. l don't know, but I've been told.....she cared about family, her students, her colleagues and her friends. I will miss her. She made a difference in the the World......and a model of what ALH is all about. I hope to meet her on Cloud Nine....one of these days! Joan Helbling
