Thomas and I were old time friends. We were Robello Lane next door neighbors who shared a toilet ... no kidding, two families shared one toilet, not a bathroom. We attended the same English and Japanese schools until Thomas moved to Japan. Haven't seen him for the past few years but my mother tried to keep in touch with him while she was alive. She would usually pass on any news/rumors she heard. My condolences to his family, who I am sorry to say, I did not get to know. I believe that I met his youngest daughter when she a small child.
One story to share that might bring a smile. Thomas bought an old plymouth from my father before he got his drivers license and we used spray cans and painted it dark green in on of the bays at my fathers gas station. When he went to get his drivers license, he parked this car on the street and when he opened his door another car came along and hit the door, almost taking it off the hinge. No one was injured except the cars. We managed to fix it Thomas' and he eventually got his drivers license.
