Timothy A Craig's Obituary
Timothy A. Craig, 80, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026.
Born on June 9, 1946, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Tim was the beloved son of John Charles Craig Sr. and Ruth Ray Craig. He spent his childhood growing up on Paiko Drive, where he developed a lifelong love for Hawaiʻi, the ocean, and the unique weather that shaped the islands. Although his career would take him far from home, Paiko always remained close to his heart, and it was there that he returned after a lifetime of adventure and public service.
Tim devoted his career to meteorology with the National Weather Service, serving communities in Texas, Florida, and Alaska before ultimately returning home to Hawaiʻi, where he served as a Lead Forecaster. He took particular pride in hurricane forecasting, recognizing the importance of providing accurate and timely information to help communities prepare for dangerous storms. Just as meaningful to him was mentoring and teaching the next generation of meteorologists, generously sharing his knowledge, experience, and passion for the science of weather with those who followed in his footsteps.
Timothy is lovingly remembered by his brother, Barry Jay Craig; his sisters-in-law Diane Craig and Nina Craig; his nieces, Summer Craig and Heather Carson; and his nephews, David Craig, Nathaniel Craig, and Aidan Craigwood. He also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, former colleagues, and the many meteorologists whose careers were shaped by his guidance and encouragement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Charles Craig Sr. and Ruth Ray Craig, and his brothers John Charles Craig Jr. and Harold Lamar Craig.
Those who knew Tim will remember his quiet strength, sharp intellect, dry sense of humor, and steadfast dedication to his profession. Whether forecasting hurricanes, mentoring young forecasters, or simply enjoying the place he always called home, Timothy approached life with integrity and purpose.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
