Vernon Franklin Bunch III, 52 passed away March 24, 2019 in Honolulu Hawaii.
He was born in Honolulu to Vernon and Kathleen Bunch Jr. where he grew up in Kaneohe and attended St. Louis High School. He was a very proud member of the Saint Louis Crusader Alumni.
Vernon joined the Honolulu Police Department in March 1993 and reached the rank of Sergeant. His career included being a Firearms and CQB Instructor; S.W.A.T Officer and Tactical Instructor. He also volunteered as a Football Coach for Hawaii Youth Football League.
Vernon married Lisa Ann on May 12, 1991 in Honolulu, Hawaii. They were happily married for almost 28 years. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing with the mountain ball, football and basketball teams from his district; as well as dragon boat races. Vernon was a huge RAMS fan and was looking forward to attending their Honolulu preseason game in August.
He was preceded in death by his mother Kathleen and Brother Robert Bunch. Vernon is survived by his wife, Lisa Ann; his sons Joshua, Cody and Brandon; his daughter Kristyn; his father Vernon “Bucky” Bunch; sister Lisa C Bunch; and his loving nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and close friends.
His memorial will be held on Friday, April 5th at Diamond head mortuary chapel, viewing 9:30 - 11:30am followed by a short service, no flowers requested.
His celebration of life will be on April 6th at St. Louis Alumni Association clubhouse, 916 Coolidge St, Honolulu, HI 96826, at 4:00pm.
